Eugene Laverty (PULL&BEAR Aspar Team) and Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) were the two fastest men in Q1 at the Red Bull Ring, as the Irishman put in a last lap charge to top the session and push Octo Pramac Yakhnich rider Danilo Petrucci out of the top two. Cal Crutchlow made up for a late crash in FP3 that saw the Brit unable to continue fighting for a place in Q2 and graduated to fight for the top 12 with Laverty and the top 10 after FP3.
