Marquez hits first in FP3

Championship leader pulls a fast one in third practice

Yesterday saw Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) have a solid start to the San Marino GP, but the two-time MotoGP™ world champion hit bacon Saturday as he shot to the top of FP3 to lead the way into Q2. Arch-rival Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) was second quickest within two tenths, with Friday's fastest Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) staying near the front in P3.

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) is fourth fastest despite heading into Q2 despite a front-end crash in FP3, with Silverstone winner Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) moving up from P10 to complete the top 5.

Andrea Dovizioso heads the Ducati Team charge into Q2 in P6, as teammate Andrea Iannone was declared unfit following a crash in FP1, with late crasher Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) safely through in P7.

Hometown hero Valentino Rossi goes through to Q2 in P8, ahead of an impressive run from Ducati wildcard Michele Pirro. Team Suzuki Ecstar's Aleix Espargaro completed the top ten heading through to Q2.
