Lorenzo: “The Desmosedici can adapt well to the track"

Assen is a circuit with an interesting record for Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team), but some serious speed. However, as well as wins, the track saw him suffer one of his biggest crashes in 2013 resulting in a broken collarbone - and was then the stage for one of the moments that has come to define the rider: racing two days after his injury in 2013, the 'Spartan' took fifth in an almost unbelievable ride through the pain barrier as he sought to defend the premier class crown.

The number 99 also has a previous MotoGP™ win at the track (2010), and took victory in the 125 race in 2004 and the 250 races in 2006 and 2007. A good record, and one he will hope to add to this weekend as the ‘firsts’ keep rolling in: a first podium in red in Jerez has been followed up by leading for the first time at Mugello and then his first front row for Ducati in Barcelona. So the goal is simple: keep ‘em coming.

Jorge Lorenzo: “The race at Montmelo proved once again that this Ducati can win and I’m really happy for Dovizioso and for the entire team. We’ll be starting from scratch again at Assen, but I’m positive and I think that the Desmosedici can adapt well to the track. As for me, in the Netherlands I’ve always scored good results, especially the unforgettable memory of what happened in 2013, and it’s always a great place to race. The most important thing is to continue to work in the same way and improve every weekend as we have in the latest races."
