Marquez, Schrötter, Pasini split by 0.044 in FP3

Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) ends Free Practice as the fastest rider in the Moto2™ class at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon, topping FP3 with a 1:53.319 to oust Friday’s fastest man Marcel Schrötter (Dynavolt Intact GP) by just 0.013 seconds.

Glorious weather once again greeted the intermediate class as they ventured out on track to get their final preparations done ahead of qualifying, with Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) completing a top three that were covered by 0.044. Fourth in the session and overall was Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46), improving on Saturday morning after ending Friday outside the top ten, with compatriot Andrea Locatelli (Italtrans Racing Team) enjoying a great weekend so far in fifth place.

Sixth was Jorge Navarro (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2), under three tenths back from Marquez as Kalex chassis rider’s lockout the top six. The first non-Kalex chassis was Fabio Quartararo (MB Conveyors – Speed Up) in seventh, the Frenchman 0.002 off Navarro, with Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) eighth quickest.

Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) finds himself down in P9 heading into qualifying, the Italian failing to improve on his FP1 time in both FP2 and FP3, with Lorenzo Baldassarri (Pons HP40) rounding out the top ten.

Joe Roberts (NTS RW Racing GP) and Stefano Manzi (Forward Racing Team) crashed, riders ok, with Steven Odendaal (NTS RW Racing GP) encountering a technical issue at the end of the pitlane. 

With Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) P11, the two Championship rivals look to have a bit of work to do if they want to challenge for pole in qualifying – but the times are tight. Who will take Saturday’s honours? Find out at 15:05 local time.
