Youchi Ui scores fastest 125cc time in first day of practice

Youichi Ui took provisional pole in the 125cc category. The Derbi LM rider dominated the session and set a best time which was almost a second quicker than his nearest rival - wildcard entry Hideyuki Nakajoh.

It was an all Japanese top five as Masao Azuma took third spot on the Liegeois Competition Honda and FCC-TSR Honda man Nobby Ueda pipped another wildcard rider, Hiroyuki Kikuchi, to make the provisional front row.

Manuel Poggiali was the biggest name crasher - although he restarted without injury - whilst Toni Elias, Dani Pedrosa and Yuzo Fujioka also escaped unhurt from minor falls.
