Carlos Checa´s Japanese bug

Carlos Checa´s Japanese bug

Carlos Checa has been one of the riders affected by a virus which has spread around the paddock at the circuit of Suzuka. The Catalan rider felt ill on Friday morning, with aches in his head and neck, a high temperature and stomuch trouble. A visit to MotoGP´s Doctor Costa relieved his troubles for a short while but when he realised that the fever was more serious than he had first thought he went to a nearby hospital in Suzuka. Norick Abe was also at the hospital complaining of similar symptons. A specialist explained that it was a cold virus currently common in the area and prescribed a medicine which Checa has taken until today. According to the Sant Fruitós rider, various people in the paddock have been hit by the bug, including his team-mate Max Biaggi.

Checa, who qualified for tommorow´s race in a modest 12th position, joked that he could have caught the virus off Yamaha. On a more serious note however, Checa confirmed that his poor position is down to several technical problems which his team will try and resolve before the race gets underway.
