Elias continues form in second 125 free practice session

Toni Elias continued his good run of form at the Grand Prix Polini de France with consistently fast riding and the quickest lap time of the session in this morning´s second free practice for the 125 class. The Spanish youngster, who forms part of the Telefonica Movistar Honda Junior Team directed by Alberto Puig, continues to make progress in his second season in MotoGP and looked extremely focused today, holding off experienced riders such as Lucio Cecchinello, Youichi Ui, and Nobby Ueda at the top of the time sheets.

Ui eventually set the second quickest time of the session ahead of another promising youngster in the shape of Manuel Poggiali. The 18 year old from San Marino entered the pit garage with a mechanical problem before returning to the track to set some fast laps late in the session.

The big surprise of the morning session was undoubtedly Hungarian rider Gabor Talmacsi. The 19 year old, who´s best race finish so far this season was 17th place in Jerez, is known as a wet specialist and set good times yesterday as the rain bounced down on the Bugatti circuit. However, he also found a good rhythm under the clear blue French skies this morning and set the fourth fastest time of the session.

Championship leader Masao Azuma continued his nightmare start to the weekend. After qualifying in 12th place on the provisional grid yesterday, the Japanese rider was way down the time sheets again today in 20th position, almost 2 seconds slower than Elias.
