Telefonica Movistar Honda

The whirlwind which affected the second qualifying practice of Catalunya Grand Prix did not stop Daijiro Katoh from leading once more the 250 class. Telefonica MoviStar Honda Japanese rider took fifth pole of the season (the ninth one of his career) riding in 1´47.261 and broke, even if unofficially, the circuit record of 1´47.585 which Valentino Rossi made in 1998. Second row for team mate Alzamora at his home Grand Prix tomorrow. After crashing while leaving the fourth corner, ten minutes after the start, Telefonica MoviStar Honda Spanish rider was able to improve his lap time and finally classified seventh.

Daijiro Katoh #74 - Honda NSR 250

Best lap: 1´47.261

Position 1st: ´We have been working well through all week-end, finding quite easily a good set up, so today I could just concentrate on tyre choice. Actually, the temperature was quite hot, but we made it. As the whirlwind came my team ´ordered´ me to go back to pits and when I stopped, they told me that I was going to be hit by a piece of Aprilia sponsorship signage moved by the wind and this made me smile! Now I´m looking forward to tomorrow, I will try hard to triumph again. Finally, I´m very pleased to start again from pole position.´

Emilio Alzamora #7 - Honda NSR 250

Best lap: 1´48.136

Position 7th: ´Unfortunately I crashed today, just when I was riding with a good pace. I luckily didn´t get injured seriously, but I just feel a little bit of pain on my left arm, anyway. Despite the accident I could improve my yesterday´s position, I classified seventh and it´s good to start from second row at my home Grand Prix. I just hope my arm will not hurt too much tomorrow.´
