Young guns firing on all cylinders in 125

Young guns firing on all cylinders in 125

The two young protégés who have set the 125 season alight so far, are beginning to prove that consistency is another string they can add to their bow. Toni Elias and Manuel Poggiali who have shown their mettle against the more experienced riders surrounding them in the overall standings this year, topped the time sheets in the first free practice of the 125 class this morning, which got the Gauloises Dutch TT under way.

It was simply a case of the two trading best times this morning, as the riders test their set up and learn how to ride the twisting course here at Assen. Spaniard, Elias, was the one who eventually set the quickest overall time with a 2´13´´483, and had been over a second ahead at one stage of the session. However he was clawed back by the San Marino Gilera rider, who eventually set a time 0.272 seconds adrift.

Behind the two youngsters came the more experienced riders Jenkner, Ui, Ueda and Borsoi, all looking to make an impression early on and get their set up right for this afternoon´s qualifying session. There were no fallers in a session which set the ball rolling for what now promises to be a spectacular weekend of racing.
