Grid unchanged in 125 as Elias takes first career pole

Grid unchanged in 125 as Elias takes first career pole

The provisional grid for the 125 race remained unchanged after this afternoon´s rain-hit final qualifying session, meaning Spanish youngster Toni Elias takes his first ever pole position. The 18 year old took his first career victory in wet conditions last week at Assen, and with his reputation as a good starter from the grid he could be the man to beat when the red lights go out tomorrow morning. Holding their places alongside Elias on the front row are Youichi Ui, Manuel Poggiali and Masao Azuma.

An unexpected challenger for the win could come in the form of 15 year old wildcard Casey Stoner. The Australian youngster was impressive in dry conditions yesterday and was the second quickest rider on the circuit behind Gino Borsoi in the wet this afternoon. If similar circumstances prevail tomorrow he will certainly be capable of causing an upset in his debut Grand Prix.

Also running well were Jakub Smrz, Ui, Azuma and Elias.
