West Honda Pons: Alex Barros gets his second podium of the year

West Honda Pons: Alexandre Barros was one of the protagonists of the British Grand Prix, held at the Donington Park circuit. The Brazilian rider shared the podium with Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi after an exciting race. Loris Capirossi, who made a very good start and rode nearly half the race in the first positions, was delayed due to some problems with the back tyre.

Alexandre Barros (3rd.):

´I enjoyed the race and achieved my aim, that was to be on the podium. I could have been in a better position, but I made a mistake while trying to overtake Biaggi, and that made me lose my chances to fight for victory. I was deceived in Assen because I could not be on the podium, but I´ve been compensated and I hope I will be competitive in the next races. The truly important thing is being among the first positions, and if you do, you got your chance.´

Loris Capirossi (10th.):

´I made a good start, but suddenly the back tyre started to slip and I lost rhythm. It was a pity because I could have been easily on the podium today. To recover positions at the end, I should have risked too much and it would be better to finish´.Sito Pons (Team Manager):

´We must analyse what has happened to Capirossi, because he´s lost a good opportunity to be again on the podium. On the other hand, I am satisfied with Barros´ race. I think he will feel more confident for the German GP, which he won last year. We must be satisfied of having our riders on the third and fourth position of the Championship classification.´
