Katja Poensgen officially presented by Shell Advance Honda

Katja Poensgen was officially presented as the third member of the Shell Advance Honda team which already boasts Leon Haslam and Brendan Clarke in the 500cc World Championship. Poensgen will ride the Honda 250 machine which took Tohru Ukawa to four Grand Prix victories in 1999 and 2000 for the first time in Estoril in two weeks time and is set to continue until the end of the season.

´It´s been a difficult summer for me because after the German Grand Prix I was left without a ride,´ said the 24 year old German. ´Thankfully things have worked out and I´m a believer that everything that happens is for the best. It´s a shame I couldn´t ride here in Brno because I know the circuit very well, but I have ridden at Estoril and Valencia before so I am looking forward to getting down there and getting on the bike. I´ve never ridden a Honda before but I´m told it´s a lot easier than the Aprilia.´

Poensgen became the first female ever to score points on a 250 this year, but denied there was any pressure on her to repeat the feat. ´At the beginning of the season my objective to qualify for every race, so to score points was a major bonus. Of course, my goals have increased because of that and I´m hungry for more points, but under the circumstances we will be just taking things one race at a time.´
