Elias looking comfortable ahead of the rest

Toni Elias made the fastest time in the 125cc practice session for the third time this weekend, and with the devestating form he is showing, it is going to take something special to rob him of pole position this afternoon. Elias is sitting pretty on top of the World Championship pile at the moment, and the two closest riders to him in the standing, Poggiali and Ui, have yet to deliver here in Elias´ back yard.

Elias´s fastest time was 1´40.929, a fraction outside his provisional pole from yesterday afternoon, and only Noboru Ueda and Lucio Cecchinello looked as if they were capable of bettering it this morning. The Japanese rider was second quickest and the Italian third, both under 0.15 behind the young Spaniard and looking as if they has finally found their rhythm.

Poggiali languished down in twentieth spot this morning after what looked like a mechanical problem with his bike, but he provisionally has fourth on the grid and is poised to make his attack in the afternoon to try and make his second consecutive pole. Ui came home fifth fastest behind a resurgent Mirko Giansanti. Hopefully the dark clouds will not spill their load over the track before the afternoon qualifying sessions, because it seems we are in for a great qualifying battle, with so many bikes in contention for front row positions.
