Aprilia Racing 125cc

Aprilia Racing 125cc

It rained during the first practice session in the morning, but the Motegi track was almost perfectly dry for the official qualifying in the afternoon. Considering that the weather forecast isn´t too good for tomorrow, the classification in this first session could be the final one, even though many riders hope that at least one of the sessions tomorrow will be dry so they can improve the set-up of their bikes at least a little.

Alessandro Brannetti (Team Crae): The rider from the Marche region showed a great performance today, qualifying in fifth position as the best out of all the Aprilia riders. ´Well, I´m happy, most of all because I didn´t push beyond all limits and the lap time came in anyway. The motorcycle worked well from the beginning, without having to work on the set-up at all.´

Lucio Cecchinello #9 (MS Aprilia LCR): The Italian rider is quite satisfied with his sixth position, but obviously he´d like to make it to the first row of the grid. ´We hope that it doesn´t rain tomorrow, because if we improve the suspension and the gearbox set-up, we can cut another half a second off my lap time, which would mean a front row start for me.´

Simone Sanna #16 (Safilo Oxydo Race): The rider from Tuscany is in 12th position but still optimistic even though he had to settle for the third row on the starting grid so far. ´My position is not the maximum, we had some small engine problems that stopped me from doing better. But last year, we haven´t started very well either, and then we improved: I hope to be able to repeat this, because deep down I feel that we can perform very well again on this track.´

Max Sabbatani #11 (Bossini Fontana Racing): The lightest rider of the world championship was very disappointed with his 17th position, but at least he knows that reason for this result. ´I was on a fantastic lap, probably even good enough for pole, but I messed up the last corner and therefore screwed up everything – a real shame. peccato. Anyway, today I rode on tyres with a harder compound because even though the sky was overcast and it rained in the morning, the tarmac is very abrasive, and it still was warm.´

Gino Borsoi #23 (LAE UGT 3000): Honest as always, the Venetian rider admits the improvements on his right wrist that he injured in Brno, and that this handicap had nothing to do with his poor 27th position.´Maybe I´m not riding very well, but otherwise I honestly don´t understand where the difference in time comes from. We really hope that it will be dry tomorrow, because I definitely have to improve. My hand is better, I´m now able to push for almost an entire lap without too many problems.´
