Katoh edges closer to title with ninth win of season
Daijiro Katoh turned in a convincing display at Phillip Island to take his ninth victory of the season, welcome relief from the disappointment of crashing out of his home race at Motegi a week ago. Tetsuya Harada finished in second place but was powerless to stop Katoh extending his lead to 29 points and setting up the chance to become World Champion next week with victory in Malaysia. The 250 class has been a two horse race all season, with the main battle often taking place for third spot. Today was no exception, although Roby Rolfo was never put under too much pressure as he took his fourth podium of the season after breaking away from the challenge of McWilliams and Nieto and Locatelli.McWilliams proved that he has not lost his fighting spirit and took a deserved fourth place after an entertaining battle with Nieto. Alzamora emerged from a poor start late on but was unable to catch the duo, despite overtaking Locatelli to wrap up sixth place.
