Gilera

Gilera

This is the last GP of the year and it´s in Rio de Janeiro. This is a very important race because this is where the World Championship will be decided. There are two riders who are fighting for the prestigious title: Manuel Poggiali and Youichi Ui. The Gilera rider has a big advantage of 23 points over Ui and only needs to take 13th place to take the title, which should be very easy to achieve after taking fourth place in this afternoons qualifying practice.

´We are heading in the right direction, even if the bike isn´t at it´s best. There are a lot of bumps on the track and as usual we have problems due to this. The best thing is that I am feeling very relaxed even though this race will be the most important race of my career. But even so I am very confident and relaxed. For sure I will have an advantage on Saturday because, to take this World Championship home I only need to be 13th. But the race is not over until the chequered flag and I won´t be taking too many silly risks. We are treating this race as we would any other, just with more attention to detail. I like this track very much, but every year it seems to get worse, but it´s the same for everyone, so it´s not a big problem. My Mother and some friends are arriving from Italy today, so I am very excited and happy about this, I´m hopping that I won´t disappoint them…´.
