Ui sends out pole warning to Poggiali

Youichi Ui today completed his first mission for this weekend with provisional pole position for the 125 race at the Nelson Piquet circuit in Rio. The Japanese rider must produce another dominant performance and take victory in Saturday´s race if he is to have any chance of beating Manuel Poggiali to the title in the last race of the season and he started out in the best possible way this afternoon, whilst Poggiali could only manage fourth place on the provisional grid.

Toni Elias recovered from the disappointment of his failed championship quest to set the second quickest lap of the day, ahead of surprise package Andrea Ballerini, who this week substitutes Gaspare Caffiero. Italian rider Ballerini qualified on the front row of the grid in fourth place in his only other race of this season at Mugello.

Lucio Cecchinello settled for a place on the second row despite challenging for pole position and he lines up in fifth place on the provisional grid ahead of Arnaud Vincent, Mirko Giansanti and Max Sabbatani respectively.
