Yamaha d`Antín confirm preseason plans

The Repsol YPF Yamaha d´Antín squad have confirmed their preseason calendar and, as expected, they will conduct private tests in Spain as well as attending those organised by IRTA. Norick Abe and Alex Crivillé will straddle the 2 stroke YZR500 machines they will ride throughout the 2002 season for the first time in Almería this Sunday 20th January. The test, which runs until Tuesday, will see Crivillé debut with Yamaha after parting company with Honda at the end of last season.

After completing sessions at Almería on the 22nd, Abe and Crivillé will travel up the coast of Spain to the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia to continue work on the 25th and 26th. Three days later they will back back dowen in the south in Jerez, alongside the Marlboro Yamaha pairing of Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa.

From the 15th February the Spanish squad will take part in the four tests organised by IRTA as final preparations for the MotoGP World Championship are completed. Valencia, Estoril, Catalunya and Suzuka will see Luis d´Antín's men put through their paces ahead of the first race of the season at Suzuka in April.
