MZ to present their MotoGP machine in Leipzig

In Leipzig tomorrow German factory MZ will present the bike and riders to compete in the next MotoGP World Championship. Having completed the design process of the bike under the leadership of the team's Sporting Director, Jurgen Zurn, MZ Engineering are now preparing to start testing before beginning to compete.

Spaniard Jose Luis Cardoso will be one of the team riders after having signed a one year deal with MZ. The Spanish rider is keen to get started, stating; 'I know that there is a lot of work to do and that we probably won't be ready to compete until the fourth or fifth Grand Prix of the season.' The identity of both the second rider and bike won't be revealed until 2pm tomorrow afternoon in Leipzig.

The German factory has previously competed in two seasons of the top category of the World Championship. In 1998, their riders were Eskil Suter and Doriano Romboni, who between them amassed 11 points. A year later, Dutchman Jurgen vd Goorbergh rode for the German team, and secured pole position at both Catalunya and Brno, scoring 40 points in the season. Simon Crafar, Anthony Gobert and Noriyasu Numata all occasionally rode the team's second bike.
