Suzuki complete second day of tests in Australia

As the majority of the MotoGP fraternity make their way down to Valencia for the first IRTA test of the pre-season, on the other side of the world the Suzuki team are continuing full steam ahead with their own private preparations. After a mammoth four day session in Malaysia last week, Kenny Roberts and Sete Gibernau today completed the second day of tests at former Grand Prix circuit Eastern Creek, near Sydney.

'The bike sounds great and it goes great – more acceleration and speed than the two-stroke, without feeling faster,' said former 500cc World Champion Roberts. 'At this stage, it's hard to say exactly what progress we're making. It's so new. There are things we need to improve, and we're quite clear as to what they are. Even as we speak, the factory is working hard on those things, and we'll keep testing them over the coming days and weeks.

'The potential is definitely there, and it's interesting work,' continued the Californian. 'There's a lot to concentrate on, but everyone involved is taking it in the right way. Of course that involves a lot of hard work. We're not scared of that. With the time scale we have before the first race, it also means we'll have to focus very clearly, and keep making rapid progress. Like I said, there's a lot to think about.'

Team Telefonica Movistar Suzuki will complete the three day test on Friday before heading for further sessions next week at Phillip Island.
