Suzuki complete three day test at Eastern Creek

Team Telefonica Movistar Suzuki today completed the third and final day of testing at the Eastern Creek circuit, Australia. Riders Kenny Roberts and Sete Gibernau continued their adaptation to the new 4 stroke XRE0 and will now enjoy the weekend in Sydney before heading down to further tests at Phillip Island.

'We've got a lot done here which is a good thing because we had a lot to do,' said Team Manager Garry Taylor. 'This has principally been a shakedown test but we have got through plenty of tyre development with Dunlop too. It's a bit of a moving target because we haven't got a base setting for the bike yet so it's difficult to help Dunlop out. Obviously we're currently lapping a good bit slower than we hope to when the season starts, so it's difficult to judge how different rubber compounds will work in race conditions.'

After a rain hit first day when the team were unable to test because the container of wet tyres was stuck in Australian customs, Taylor is hoping for better luck in Phillip Island. 'They're saying it's around 40º down there at the moment so we shouldn't have any worries about the rain, but knowing our luck the slick tyres will melt and come in with half the track stuck to them after the first lap,' joked the Briton. 'It's just one of life's little tricks but I'm sure the conditions will be fine and all the team are heading down there in good spirits. We have had a good workout here at Eastern Creek and we have a few days off now before the serious work starts again in Phillip Island on Tuesday.
