Suzuki continue development of the XREO at Philip Island

The Suzuki Telefonica Movistar team have begun the first of three days of tests at the Philip Island circuit in Australia. The test is the next stage in the team's development of their XREO 4-stroke prototype.

The British-based set-up, who spent last week testing at the Eastern Creek circuit, have completed the first day of work in what were sunny and hot conditions. Kenny Roberts and Sete Gibernau, who have been sharing track duties with Suzuki's official test rider, Yukio Kagayama, were able to lap throughout the day, although they did spend lengthy periods in their boxes so that the necessary modifications could be carried out on their machines.

'We're still really just getting used to the machine at the moment, trying new things, seeing what works and what doesn't,' explained Gibernau. 'We're continuing with the program that we started out on first at Sepang and then at Eastern Creek. This is one of the hard parts of the job, because it's still too early to begin working on the final set-up of most basic parts like the tyres or the suspension, but both Kenny and I are concentrated on what we've got to do over the next few days.'
