Sachsenring ticket sales boost

Tickets for the Cinzano Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland are on sale now and selling faster than ever. Officials at Sachsenring confirmed that, despite going on sale a month later than usual, sales are up 15% on last year and around 80,000 tickets are expected to have been snapped up by the end of this week.

The event has attracted gradually rising figures over the last few years, with attendances rising by around 10,000 annually since 1998, when MotoGP returned to the venue after 26 years. In 2001 it drew 175,683 fans, the third highest crowd of the season behind Valencia and Jerez, despite rainy conditions.

The dawn of a new era for MotoGP and the introduction of 4 stroke machines of up to 990cc capacity has clearly captured the imagination of the German public and this year's Grand Prix, scheduled to take place on the 21st July, looks set to be a bigger hit than ever.
