DeGraaf Grand Prix Team presents Haruchika Aoki and Jarno Janssen
The presentation of the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team place in Holland last week, with manager Arie Molenaar officially unveiled alongside Japanese rider Haruchika Aoki and Dutchman Jarno Janssen. The 250 line-up is sponsored by one of the major temporary employment agencies in Holland, DeGraaf Technical Personnel, as well as Honda HRC, Dunlop, Shell, DAF Trucks and other technical partners.
Former 125cc World Champion Aoki returns to the quarter-litre class after a three year absence to pilot the evolution Honda RS 250 production racer for 2003. ``The nine testing days are not as many as maybe some of my opponents made, but I already feel acquainted to the smaller 250cc bike after riding the Honda V2 500 for a few years,´´ said Aoki, who has tested the new machine at Valencia, Estoril and Catalunya. ``I am sure that I´m in top-shape now and am confident that during the season we will come closer and closer to the top rankings.´´
Janssen, who finished fourth in the European Championship last season, will pilot an A-kitted RS 250 R and is looking forward to riding alongside such an experienced team-mate. ``Haru has ridden in 114 Grand Prix races and won nine in the 125 class so he can be a perfect tutor for me,´´ said the 26 year old. ``I raced in Grand Prix in 1999 and 2000 and have sharpened my riding skills in last year´s European Championship. We aim to spend a long period in the World Championship and I´ll go for a ranking within the top 15 in 2002.´´
