Aprilia officially present 2002 line-up at Mugello

Against the stunning backdrop of the Mugello circuit in Italy, Aprilia unveiled their line-up for the forthcoming MotoGP season. After presenting the factory´s official riders for the 2002 campaign, Regis Laconi (MotoGP), Marco Melandri (250), and test rider, Marcellino Lucchi, Aprilia President Ivano Beggio turned the spotlight back on the marque´s showpiece this season, the RS Cube 4-stroke prototype.

In front of the assembled press, and a group of sixty specially invited fans, Laconi completed three demonstration laps of the Italian circuit on the RS Cube, which will be spearheading the factory´s challenge in the inaugural season of the new MotoGP category. Beggio was quick to underline the importance of the RS Cube project to Aprilia´s future racing strategy.

´This is an important moment in our history. Racing is the spirit, the history and the very life of Aprilia,´ commented Beggio. ´Today marks the official beginning of our challenge in MotoGP and the 250 Class, and the Aprilia RS Cube is a decisive step towards the future of our company. We are also reaffirming our total commitment to the 250cc class and are today officially launching the challenge which will hopefully conclude with Marco Melandri winning the world title, which we want back here at Aprilia.´
