Leon Haslam prepares for 250 debut in Suzuka

Leon Haslam is preparing to make his debut in the quarter-litre class this term after an ultimately disappointing season last time around. After a rapid rise to the top level of MotoGP racing, Haslam´s season was plagued by injury which overshadowed some impressive showings. This campaign he will ride with fellow Briton, Jay Vincent, for the Spanish based Cibertel Honda BQR set-up, and he is hoping to recapture the form which saw him scoring points in the blue riband category last year.

´Obviously this will be my first season on a 250 bike and it´s going to be a learning curve,´ stated the 18 year-old. ´Testing has gone reasonably well though, and I´m happy with both the team and the bike. There\'s still some work work to be done on the bike, but it´s an ongoing project and hopefully we´ll keep improving throughout the year.´

´I´m looking to produce a lot of solid performances this season. My aim will be to keep getting in the top ten, and to really prove myself to Honda, that way you give yourself a chance of getting the factory rides.´ Haslam flies out to Suzuka for the first Grand Prix of the new season next week, and is looking forward to riding at the Japanese track. ´Suzuka is a complicated circuit, and quite demanding technically, but I enjoy it there and hoping to make a good start´.
