McCoy feeling fit after tests and ready to start in Suzuka

Garry McCoy completed two days of testing with the Red Bull Yamaha squad at Suzuka last weekend and is feeling fit and ready to contest the first Grand Prix of the season at the Japanese venue starting on Friday. The Australian revealed that he has made good progress since breaking his leg in Estoril just over a month ago.

´The day after the accident in Portugal I had an operation and now I have a rod and five screws in my tibula,´ explained McCoy. ´They didn´t want to touch my fibula because they thought it might upset my ankle a little bit so that´s just floating around. After the operation I spent a week in hospital and since then I have been in a rehabilitation centre in Austria before flying straight to Japan.´ Despite his rapid return to the YZR500, McCoy insists he is not back to full fitness just yet. ´Im getting back into shape now and trying to get the leg moving as much as possible. I didn't think it was going to be enough coming here but it was pretty close and after a couple of days on the bike it has been a lot freer. The aim here in Suzuka is just to get some points and finish the race.´
