Hector Barbera fit to make home debut

Hector Barbera has recovered from a broken collar bone sustained just two weeks ago and will be fit to make his Grand Prix home debut. The Spanish rookie, who was involved in a warm-up crash with his team-mate Angel Rodriguez which forced him out of the race in South Africa a fortnight ago, admits that he is not yet 100% but did not want to miss out on one of the most important dates on the World Championship calendar.

`I was disappointed to miss the race at Welkom because qualifying had gone quite well,´ he explained to motograndprix.com. `Angel fell and his bike knocked me off but I wasn´t angry with him because these things happen in racing. That is in the past now and I am very much looking forward to racing here in Jerez. My collarbone is more or less okay so we will see what I can do.´The third round of the World Championship will be particularly special for the affable youngster, as his family and friends will be at the track to see him in action for the first time. `Obviously my family couldn´t come to the first two races but they are coming to Jerez and it will be a nice feeling. I have ridden here before in the Spanish Championship and I like it very much. I have seen the Grand Prix here on the television and I´m sure there will be a fantastic atmosphere. To know that all those people are behind you and supporting you is a very special honour and I can´t wait for Sunday.´
