Testing continues apace for MotoGP teams at Jerez

In the wake of the intense weekend of action at the circuit of Jerez, several MotoGP teams stayed on at the Spanish venue for extra tests on Monday. HRC rider Tohru Ukawa, who finished third in Sunday´s race, was not joined on the track by his team-mate Valentino Rossi although he was kept company by the Suzuki machines of Kenny Roberts and Sete Gibernau and the Gaulouises Tech 3 Yamaha squad.

Chief Mechanic to the Japanese rider, Trevor Morris, explained: `This was not a full scale test but we had some information that we have gathered over the weekend which we wanted to confirm. The weather was very similar to how it was over the weekend and Tohru was able to complete 46 laps. We are happy with the test and we have found several bits and pieces which we will use next week in Le Mans.´

Roberts and Gibernau tested sporadically throughout the day as they continued to find settings for the 4 stroke GSV-R after switching to Michelin tyres just before the Grand Premio Marlboro de España. They will continue testing on Tuesday. Meanwhile Shinya Nakano suffered his second crash in as many days when he fell off his Yamaha.
