Melandri to miss the Aprilia tests in Mugello through injury

Marco Melandri will miss the Aprilia tests in Mugello scheduled for tomorrow and Thursday. The Italian 250 rider suffered a slight fracture of his left ankle after falling in Sunday´s Grand Prix in Jerez. The 19 year-old will travel from London to Dr Costa´s hospital in Imola tomorrow for a new scan to see how the injury is healing.

Melandri explained how the accident happened, and the possible consequences it could have ahead of next week´s French GP. ´I was battling with Battaini for third place. Franco ran into the back of my bike and caused me to fall. After that there was no getting back on. Now it´s going to be difficult for me in Le Mans, because it´s a circuit which requires constant gear changing, and to control the clutch perfectly I need my left ankle to be 100 percent. I´m doing exactly as Dr Costa has advised, and hopefully I will be recovered for the next race´.
