True extent of Riba´s injury confirmed

Antena 3 Yamaha d´Antin rider, Pere Riba, has visited specialist Angel Villamor to establish the true extent of the injury he suffered at the first Grand Prix of the year in Suzuka, and which only allowed him to complete three laps of the MotoGP race in Jerez before forcing him back to his pit-box.

Doctor Villamor said of Riba´s injury; ´Pere, as a result of his crash at Suzuka, has broken his right humerous head, and damaged the tendons in the area. Because of this, he can not hold the bike during braking, and he can't ride one hundred percent. This morning we carried out one treatment in order to get the tendon in better conditions for the French GP, and next week we he will have another examination to decide if he can or can´t ride in Le Mans´.

The 33 year-old has clearly been troubled by the injury this season and it has overshadowed his arrival on the MotoGP scene, but Riba is determined to shake it off and prove his worth. ´After trying my best during the races in Welkom and Jerez, we have learned that there has been a backwards step in my recovery. Doctor Villamor has been studying my shoulder situation, and has made an incision in the tendon to try and reduce the inflammation. I will do my best to be OK for the French GP, and next week, together with the Doctor and Luis d'Antin, we will decide if I am able to race or not´.
