Rugby star Diego Dominguez appears in the MotoGP paddock

Argentine rugby player, Diego Dominguez, and his son, visited the MotoGP paddock during last weekend´s Polini Grand Prix de France to get a closer look at the team set-ups and of course the riders. Dominguez, who last year attended the Grand Prix in Mugello, and was this time the special guest of the Repsol Honda team, took the opportunity to meet up with his compatriot Sebastián Porto.

The rugby star and the Petronas Sprinta Yamaha TVK rider chatted in the pit-lane where Porto discovered that he knew the family of Dominguez´s wife. Both also exchanged views on their respective professions, and on the current troubled situation in their homeland.

Born in Córdoba in 1966, Diego Dominguez took his first steps into the rugby world by playing for the La Tablada outfit, before progressing on to international honours with the Pumas. In 1986 he took part in a tour of France with his club side, and eventually stayed on to play in the Cognac region. After that he moved on to play in Milan before returning to France once again to play for Stade Francais with whom he has won various national titles. In 1991, Dominguez made his debut for the Italian national side, and has gone on to play in two World Cups, and will compete in his third in 2003.
