Proton Team KR complete chassis and tyre tests in Almeria

Proton Team KR today completed the second of three days of testing at the Spanish circuit of Almeria, with Jeremy McWilliams joined on track by back-up rider David Garcia. McWilliams, who finished tenth at Le Mans last week, decided to only ride today and onlookers were also treated to the sight of team owner and former 500cc World Champion Kenny Roberts taking to the lightweight 3 cylinder machine to complete some laps.

`We tried a new chassis today which Kenny has been designing for quite a while,´ revealed the Ulsterman. `It was definitely an improvement and we also made some steps with the current chassis. I got a bad start in Le Mans but the tyre life also prevented me from finishing higher up and that is something we will be looking to improve on in the next race.´

The team will continue testing tomorrow with Garcia, as McWilliams heads towards Italy in preparation for the fifth round of the season. `The weather here was beautiful, we got over 30 laps done and the Bridgestone tyres work like a dream in hot conditions. Hopefully there will be a similar climate at Mugello,´ concluded McWilliams.
