Footballer Seedorf provides Ortega with chance to chase World Championship dream

Dutch footballer Clarence Seedorf is this season acting as sponsor to young Spanish rider, Ismael Ortega, who is currently competing in the European and Spanish 125cc championships. The former Real Madrid player is a huge bike fan, and set up his own racing team, Seedorf Motors Pantera, with an eye on entering the World Championship arena in the future.

Seedorf, who now plays in Italy for Inter Milan, recognised the passion for motorcycling in Spain and was happy to provide Ortega with the chance to chase his dream of taking part in the World Championship. ´Spain is the number one country for motorbike racing, and there are great opportunities here for riders with talent. We´ve got a good team together and I think it´s great to be able to give Ismael the chance to do what he enjoys. I hope he goes on to do really well in the future.´ With the football season now over, Seedorf plans to go and watch Ortega in action. ´I want to see him race live if I can, Holland might be a good place to go.´

Ortega suffered disappointment in the first round of the CEV (Campeonato Española de Velocidad) Spanish national championship which took place on May 12th in Albacete. The fifteen year-old fell that day, but Ortega remains positive and has clear plans for his career. ´I am going to concentrate on finishing as high as possible in both the Spanish and European championships, and hopefully I will get an invite to ride at one of the World Championship rounds.´ He went on to add, ´My dream is to make the jump to world level next year, and Pedrosa and Pablo Nieto are my role models.´
