´Roby´returns this weekend to the scene of his first podium

Italian rider, Roberto Rolfo returns this weekend to the circuit of Mugello, scene of his first career podium last season when he finished second in the quarter-litre class race there behind Tetsuya Harada. That second place finish put the young Italian up amongst the top riders in the championship at the time. He went on to claim another second place at Donington, and a couple of third places in Catalunya and Philip Island, results which were enough to give him fourth place overall in the championship, behind the factory riders, Kato, Harada and Melandri.

On his return to Mugello, Rolfo is currently occupying second place in the provisional standings, 17 points behind championship leader, Fonsi Nieto. The Italian Honda rider has now scored points in each of his last thirteen Grand Prix outings, although he is still awaiting his first career victory, with a second place his best so far this term.

Speaking of Mugello, ´Roby´ stated; ´This is without doubt my favourite track along with Suzuka. Last year I covered a lot of kilometres there as Aprilia´s test rider. I lapped there on a bike with a different cylinder capacity, but a lot of the information I picked up will still be useful for setting the bike up this time around. Mugello is one of those circuits that really tests the technical ability of the riders.
