Toni Elías getting to grips with his 250cc Aprilia

Toni Elias´ adaptation to his Aprilia 250 machine is now progressing with each passing race after a difficult start to the season. Elias who arrived on the 250 scene after being the great revelation of the 125 championship last term, initially paid for his inexperience at the quarter-litre level with crashes during the pre-season, but as the year has gone on, the 19 year-old has coped better and better.

In Le Mans he finished sixth, after getting back on following a collision with Aoki in the early stages of the race. Strangely enough, the French track was also the scene of the emergence of the young Spaniard in the 125s last year. Elias himself is now optimistic about the rest of the campaign after his showing in France. ´After the work we carried out during the preseason and at the beginning of the championship, it seems as though we are now heading in the right direction in terms of the set-up of the chassis. In Le Mans I could notice the improvements we have made and I finished that race very satisfied. For Mugello we won´t be making major changes to the bike´s set-up, and we´ll be continuing with the same line of work were in France, although we will of course be looking to improve some aspects. I´m feeling a lot more comfortable on the bike now, and I´m sure things will only get better now.´

Elías is convinced that Mugello will be another hard-fought race. ´The race in Italy will be very complicated because all the Italians will be doing their best to claim the win in front of their own fans. Mugello is a very fast and technical circuit, I really enjoy it there and have had some good results. What´s more, we head there with the advantage of having tested there with Aprilia before. My hopes for this Grand Prix, if everything goes well during qualifying, is to stay with the leading group and to equal what I achieved in France, as well as learning everything possible from it´.
