Repsol Honda extend their lead at the top of the Team Championship

The Repsol Honda team have widened the gap at the top of the Team Championship after the Gran Premio Cinzano D´Italia. The victory of Rossi and the third place of Ukawa meant the HRC outfit took 41 of the 45 points on offer to them, and in doing so saw them open up a lead of over 100 points on their nearest rival in the standings. Repsol Honda now have 197 points, whilst West Honda Pons, who currently lie second, have 95.

The Marlboro Yamaha set-up closed the gap on second position by claiming 33 points from Sunday´s race thanks to the second place finish of Biaggi, and the fourth of Checa. Now the team led by Davide Brivio is just 12 points behind that of Sito Pons.

Three teams left Mugello without scoring; Fortuna Honda Gresini due to the fall of Daijiro Kato, Proton KR after mechanical problems ended the hopes of McWilliams and Aoki and the Telefonica Movistar Suzuki outfit following the fall of Roberts and the retirement of Gibernau.
