Marco ´Spiderman´ Melandri makes appearance at film premiere in Rome

World Championship 250cc rider, Marco Melandri, appeared at the official Italian premiere of the new ´Spiderman´ film in Rome last Friday. The Columbia Pictures' movie, a celebration of the great comic-book hero created 40 years ago, and the all-time box-office record holder in the United States, premiered in Rome at the Warner Village cinema.

The event was hosted by one of the biggest names in Italian show business, Paola Saluzzi, who introduced a star-studded list of special guests including Melandri, the official Aprilia quarter-litre class rider who recently won the Gran Premio Cinzano D´Italia. Throughout that race weekend in Mugello, Melandri had donned a special ´Spiderman´ racing suit and helmet on his 250cc bike, which had also been decked out in Spiderman colours. Melandri brought the ´Spiderman´ Aprilia he had ridden to victory last Sunday with him to the premiere, and was once again able to relive the magic of the character he had done so proud in Mugello.

´It was really exciting being part of the Spiderman evening´, said the 19 year-old. ´I use the word ‘exciting' because during the first part of the film it really was like going through last Sunday's race again. I identified so closely with the character that I almost felt I was right there on the big screen. When I looked at the picture, I couldn't help noticing how accurately they'd done my bike, suit and helmet; it was amazing! I really enjoyed myself, and returned the invitation by asking Paola Saluzzi to come and see me at the next round of the World Championship next weekend in Barcelona´.
