Anthony West makes appearance at Montmelo

Australian rider Anthony West was present at the first day of qualifying for this weekend's Gran Premi Marlboro de Catalunya. The 20 year-old is currently without a ride this season, and is hoping to try and secure himself a future in the new MotoGP category after performing in last year's 500cc class.

´I´m just hanging around trying to look for a ride for next year, or even this year, and trying to show everyone I´m still here so no-one forgets about me´, said West. The Aussie is disappointed by his lack of opportunity this year, after putting in some creditable performances last term. ´I´m still hopeful. It´s pretty difficult trying to find a sponsor and I think being Australian is making it a bit harder as European sponsors don´t really want Austrlian riders so that´s going against me, but I still believe in myself.´

On Sunday´s race, the Australian was unsurprisingly tipping one man above all others to watch. ´I suppose Rossi will be the one to catch as always, but Checa always seems to go alright here so hopefully he can do something and give Rossi a battle, as that would be good for the fans.´
