A difficult weekend for Arnaud Vincent

A difficult weekend for Arnaud Vincent

It was a difficult weekend for me in Barcelona. I begun quite well on Friday, but I couldn´t better my time the following day. The track surface in Barcelona was quite uneven, like at Mugello, and we couldn´t find the best set-up very easily. We had various little problems with the bike, from the engine to the chassis and on both the Saturday and Sunday I wasn´t able to get in amongst the top riders.

Luckily I made quite a good start to the actual race. In the last few rounds I´ve had problems getting away well and have lost a lot of ground off the starting grid. But here I found a solution to that problem, and was able to make up some places quickly, although I eventually finished in eleventh. I didn´t score many championship points, but the most important thing was that everyone did their best, the team, Aprilia and me. Also, you can never tell, these points could prove very valuable at the end of the year.

As regards the Championship, I´m not worried even though I have slipped back after having a 24 point lead. Following Sunday, I´ve now gone from being 1 point to 21 behind Poggiali, but we´re still in the first half of the season and there´s a long way to go. The big thing for us is to solve the problems we had this weekend as quickly as possible, and to get back on the podium. I´m hoping to do just that at the next race in Assen.
