Injured Nakano bidding to be fit for Assen

Gauloises Yamaha Tech 3 rider, Shinya Nakano, is following a treatment plan of absolute rest in a bid to make a swift recovery from the injury he sustained after falling on the first lap of the Gran Premi Marlboro de Catalunya. Norick Abe and Jurgen vd Goorbergh were also caught up in the crash but escaped unhurt, however after visiting doctors, Nakano has now returned to his French home to rest up, but he will be ready to compete in the Dutch TT at Assen next week.

The Japanese rider commented, ´I´m relieved and calm as I haven´t broken anything. The problem was that the blow I took when I fell off caused me a lot of pain as the blood all built up in the injured spot and crested a huge bruise on my left leg. Now I got to rest for two or three days more and just see how it recovers. I want to race at Assen, especially after last year where I was in the top five in both the race and qualifying. Although there are still ten Grand Prix left this season, and I´m desperate to break the bad run I´ve been having and start to perform like I know I can.´

Nakano currently occupies sixteenth place in the World Championship standings, after taking points in only three of the six races so far. He was eighth in Welkom, eleventh at Mugello and thirteenth in Le Mans.
