Fastré on pole for Boxer Cup race at Assen

Qualifying for the BMW Boxer Cup was the final matter to be resolved at Assen today, with Grégory Fastré taking pole position in a session interrupted by bad weather. Only the most dedicated bike fans had stuck around at the legendary circuit after being bombarded by storms all day long, but those who did saw the Belgian joined on the front row by Matthieu Lagrive, Andy Hoffmann and Ivan Lazzarini.

Championship leader Thomas Hinterreiter qualified in seventh place, behind current title holder Stephane Mertens and former Grand Prix racer Jurgen Fuchs, who was riding as a guest entrant. Sébastien Legrelle makes up the second row for the race which gets underway before the three Grand Prix events on Saturday.
