McCoy signs contract extension with Red Bull WCM

Garry McCoy has signed an extension to his contract with the Red Bull WCM team. The new deal will carry the Australian through to the end of the 2003 season. McCoy, who returns to competitive action this weekend at the Cinzano British Grand Prix at Donington Park after a lengthy injury lay-off, has taken three Grand Prix victories with the squad aboard the Yamaha YZR500 machine and revealed his delight at the new deal.

`It is a good feeling going to Donington knowing I haven´t got to think about switching teams for next year especially as Red Bull have treated me so well, so it would be pretty silly not to continue and build on our past success together,´ said McCoy, who also fanned the flames of current rumours surrounding the machinery the team will use next season. `The team told me they can´t announce the bikes at the moment but everyone has heard all the talk from the Dutch TT in Assen. Watching Rossi dominate on the Honda V5 you can see this is the fastest bike and right now it´s the bike you would want to have next year although with other factory teams like Kawasaki and Ducati coming to MotoGP the competition is going to be tough.´
