Smrz brothers hoping for double tonic in Germany

Czech brothers Jakub and Matej Smrz are hoping for a double dose of good news this weekend, as Jakub continues his recovery from a leg operation and Matej takes the place of Nobby Ueda for the Cinzano Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. Jakub watched his brother get off to a nightmare start in the first free practice session, crashing out after just one lap and failing to return to the track in time to avoid finishing bottom of the time sheets.

However, the 20 year old has faith in his sibling and is optimistic that they will ride in Grand Prix together one day in the future. `It is very frustrating to have to watch from pit lane but I am very proud to see my brother riding in the World Championship,´ said Jakub, who has his leg in a heavy brace and is facing a race against time to be fit for his home Grand Prix at the end of August. `It would be a dream for my father to see us both riding together on the television and we will keep our fingers crossed that it can happen one day´. $$$

Matej enjoyed the first session of his second Grand Prix appearance, despite the disappointment of his crash. `It is a lot different to riding as a wildcard because I feel part of everything and there is not as much pressure. The crash was my fault although I´m not exactly sure how it happened, but I am positive I can make an impression this weekend.´
