Mick Doohan reacts to the shock Jacque attack

I have to admit that I was really surprised to see Olivier Jacque take pole position today and with Shinya Nakano taking second place on the grid it really is a fantastic performance from both riders. Honda really struggled last year but you can never really predict what will happen in a race when the gird is so close together and I would not bet against Valentino Rossi even though this is a go-kart track and is not suited to high powered Grand Prix machines.

From Rossi´s point of view there are one or two tracks on the calendar where he has to change the mental chip back to riding a 250 and getting the bike on its side. In my opinion there are not many riders who can do that and once the tyres go off tomorrow I think he will be the rider with the strongest hand. Unless he ends up too far back at the start then I think he will get stronger as the race goes on.

At least it looks like we are in for an open and exciting race, and I guess that is what a lot of the fans come for. Not everybody wants to see Rossi win every week and I think today has shown that despite his superiority this year this championship still has a little bit of everything to offer.
