Looking back over the first half of the season I must admit that things have not gone well so far, and our assessment is certainly not a positive one. Contrary to our expectations, 2002 has been a difficult year. I don´t mean to suggest that I thought it would be easy or that life would be comfortable in this category, but I did think I would be in the lead group more often and for longer. As it happened our efforts have been obstructed by different problems with the machine and I have not been able to be consistent.

Looking ahead to the next race of the season at Brno in a few weeks time, it is a track which I have always liked and I am usually fast there, but once again it will be tough. Last year, for example, I had a good race but I wasn´t content with second place and my impatience ended up sending me to the ground on the final corner and I finished tenth. Hopefully I will have better luck this time.

For the moment at least I am concentrating on putting my feet up and relaxing. I have just started my holidays which I will spend next to the sea. I think that holidays are scared although of course I have to keep my fitness up and I have stuffed my bicycle in with the luggage. I also like to play tennis and it is important to start the day with a game before heading to the beach.

Hopefully this break can help me get over the disappointment of the first half of the season because if I think about it too much I get eaten up by nerves!
