Alex Debon still hopeful of best privateer title

Alex Debón is making the most of the break in competitive action to spend time in his native Vall d´Uixó. There the Spanish rider, who is currently lying in 11th place in the World Championship with his Campetella Racing team, is combining his rest period with some unusual activity.

`I am helping out the family business for a few days´, explains the 26 year old. `I am also having a good time with the parties in the town at the moment but I have to keep an eye on my fitness even during the holidays. I am jogging every day and riding my cross bike. It is also a good way of clearing my head´.

Debón is satisfied with his current form in the 250cc World Championship: `I have to look at it in a positive way,´ he says. `Last year was a lot worse and this year you have to consider that this is a modest team, sometimes with very few resources, and we are fighting against official bikes. Right now I am eight points from tenth place and that means that I am in touch with my objective, which is to finish the season in sixth or seventh place. Of course I still want to be the highest placed privateer and I believe I can achieve that´.

The next step towards that objective will be at Brno, a circuit Debón particularly likes: `Last year I raced with the leading group and it is a track which suits my style. Hopefully a good result there can push me on to improved positions in the future.´
