Joan Olive itching to return to competitive action

I am in my home town of Tarragona at the moment, trying to make the most of the break in the Grand Prix calendar to get some rest. However, after almost three weeks without competing I am desperate to get back on the bike and be competing out there on the track once more. When you are used to travelling to a race every other weekend you become accustomed to being constantly on the move, so for everything to stop is a bit of a shock to the system and I have got itchy feet.

I have been keeping myself busy since the race at Sachsenring and last weekend we were invited by our sponsors to a boat race in Palma de Mallorca. It was a great occasion because we were introduced to the King of Spain. He didn´t really have any advice for me but he said `hi´ to us all and it was a great honour. It was nice to spend a couple of days in the sunshine and mix with my colleagues away from the track and I think we all appreciated that.

$$$ My assessment of the first half of the season is mixed. I had really bad luck over the first few races but from Catalunya things began to improve and the highlight of my career so far was of course my first podium at Assen. Now I am counting down the days to Brno so I can give my maximum for the rest of the season. You never know what will happen in racing but I have had a taste of success and I want more. I will be putting all my effort into achieving that and hopefully I will be celebrating again soon.
