Barry Sheene struck by cancer

MotoGP Legend Barry Sheene has announced that he has cancer. The former 500cc World Champion has been struck by the disease in the throat and the stomach. British hero Sheene, who was diagnosed with the illness at his Gold Coast home in Australia, reacted to the news in typical fashion: `This is a pain in the a*** but I will fight through it.´

Sheene picked up no fewer than 23 Grand Prix victories in a glittering career spanning fourteen years. He was last in action one month ago at the Cinzano British Grand Prix at Donington, where he won two classic races aboard a Norton.
