A painful yet successful weekend for de Puniet

A painful yet successful weekend for de Puniet

During the summer break I did a lot of sport and motocross. I didn´t have any problems from my bad crash at the Sachsenring, where I banged my head. However, I had headaches during the weekend, in the evenings and I will have to undergo a few tests before Estoril, to make sure there´s nothing serious.

The Grand Prix wasn´t that bad, even if we had problems during the practice sessions. In the last qualifying session, I could only complete two timed laps as I had an engine failure. So, I didn´t manage to qualify higher than ninth. Moreover, the team did a couple of changes to the bike, and it didn´t suit me. Fortunately, we found a solution on Sunday morning.

I was pretty comfortable with the pace in the early laps of the race. After a bad start, I could gain a few positions. Later on, I was slower as I suffered from headache again. However, being overtaken by Stoner gave me a boost because I could follow him and finish the race on a good pace. In those conditions, finishing in sixth is a good result.

Now I´m starting to think about next season. I would like to remain in the same team. I think the most important thing is not to have a factory bike, but the best tyres and a serious testing schedule, in order to keep improving.
